Addressing Challenges in Trade Sanctions & Export Risk: A 2019 Industry Snapshot

Enhanced guidance from IATA and continued regulatory pressure to scrutinise cargo documentation for trade sanctions risks drives cargo and freight carriers to improve export compliance. To capture this, Accuity surveyed senior-level professionals from these organisations to understand how they were addressing this risk whilst maintaining efficiency for their customers.

Based on responses from a diverse geography and a wide range of job functions, this infographic offers a snapshot of the key findings. Learn more about why cargo carriers take export and sanctions compliance seriously and how they can address some of the more significant challenges.

Survey Demographics
This data is based on 80 responses from senior positions in cargo carriers or freight forwarders. The geographic breakdown includes 35% Asia/Pacific, 27% Americas, 24% Europe and 14% Middle East/Africa. To consider size of carrier, the breakdown by volume of airway or house airway bills includes 37% with less than one million, 46% with one-ten million, and 17% with volumes over ten million. Finally, all respondents are manager level or above, with 25% performing a compliance/legal/security function, 20% from sales, 18% operations or logistics, 14% from the C-Suite, 9% technology and the remaining across miscellaneous functional areas.
